SPROOT is a creative design practice that actively explore various fields of designs with a primary focus on architecture.
With the belief good design comes only with thorough understanding, the practice interprets every project brief in details, explore opportunities and overcome limitations within them. The practice treats every challenge as an opportunity to create good design.
We constantly challenges ourselves to rethink design processes for improvement. Continuous engagement with our client helps us create practical, compelling and original architecture for informed clients who care deeply about the spaces where they live, work, learn and play. We desire to create meaningful stories and experiences for people through our design.
A COLLABORATIVE and SUSTAINABLE PRACTICE
Close collaboration and conversations among the client, the consultants, the contractor and the workers are essential in our projects. The inputs or expertise of every individuals are parts to the creation of an overall good design.
Promoting sustainable design is also an important fundamental for the practice. A good design should be sensitive to material selection, designed for durability and to adopt innovative solutions.
THE NAME SPROOT
SPROOT, a combination of the words sprout and root, is a practice that seek to sprout meaningful experiences through strong rooting to the fundamentals of attention to details, exploring opportunities and overcoming limitations. SPROOT is a practice that listens, explore and learn.
FOUNDER/ PRINCIPAL ARCHITECT
Melvin is the founder and principal of SPROOT. Prior to founding SPROOT in 2020, he has worked in various architectural practices and handled a multitude of project types. His project experiences include those of private residences, commercial complex, hospitality, industrial, institutional, landscape and master planning. He is a registered architect in Singapore and is also trained as a Design for Safety Professional, a Universal Design Assessor and a Green Mark Accredited Professional.
